Drops of Joy: Film Screening & Q&A

April 20 @ 19:00 - 20:50

Free

In collaboration with Alana
Featuring a post-film Q&A with Cacau Rhoden hosted by Irene Caselli

Childhood games are a part of our social, intellectual and emotional formation. Through them we socialise, define ourselves, and internalise many of the cultural habits of adult life. We all played in our childhood, and were free and happy while playing. But do we still keep this joyful spirit and playful culture alive within us? Would the child we once were be proud of the adult we became? Drops of Joy is a manifesto on the importance of sustaining the playful spirit that arises in childhood but which our system encourages to abandon in our adult life.

We hope you will join us for this special film screening, followed by a short Q&A hosted by Irene Caselli with the film’s director Cacau Rhoden.

Film length: approx 80 minutes | Q&A: approx 30 minutes

You can watch a recording of the full Q&A below.

HOST

Irene Caselli is the founder of The First 1,000 Days, a fully reader-supported platform that covers the foundational period of our lives that is too often overlooked. After working for a decade as a foreign correspondent in Latin America, in 2019 she became the world’s only First 1,000 Days correspondent for The Correspondent, a transnational member-funded journalism site. When The Correspondent shut down in December 2020, she launched her own platform. Irene has been awarded fellowships by the IWMF, the European Journalism Centre and the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma. She speaks six languages, and is now learning Greek. In her free time, she writes stories for children that she likes to test out with her son Lorenzo.
